When Rebekah was at Columbia Medical Center for 2 days (when she was 2 years old and being monitored for possible seizures), we had a dog come and visit the unit and she loved it. The dog was wonderful, the people were wonderful, and for a few minutes she forgot that her head was wrapped and that she was attached to a leash herself! I must also add that we had a visit from Minnie Mouse as well which thrilled her. Anything that brings a bit of home or fun to the hospital setting is a good thing and I agree it helps promote healing through helping us emotionally feel better and more relaxed.

I have to say that I felt exhilarated whenever I saw our pet therapist at the hospital I worked at. It does wonders for the staff as well, which means better, kinder patient care!
